How can colleges and universities use their CRM for higher education to power external-facing, authenticated portals? At Enrollment Rx, the majority of our clients adopt Salesforce’s Experience Cloud in order to power portal experiences for various constituent types. The most common use-case by far is the Applicant Portal experience. Applicants are able to log into a highly personalized and dynamic portal environment where they complete and submit all requirements necessary for enrollment. Some clients have recently expanded the applicant portal to support multiple languages (e.g., versions in both English and Spanish).
Beyond the applicant portal, clients that have selected Salesforce as their CRM for higher education have also been able to leverage Experience Cloud to support enrolled student requirements, thus delivering a Student Portal experience. As indicated, this student portal capability allows institutions to leverage Salesforce beyond recruitment and admissions. It empowers schools with the tools they need to communicate efficiently with students through orientation, onboarding, and even plays a role in student success.
Another interesting use-case in CRM for higher education is to use Experience Cloud to deliver an International Agency Portal. Many institutions work with organizations in other countries in order to recruit and apply on behalf of local prospective students. These agencies require access to the Salesforce platform, but in a more complicated fashion because they will need access to all appropriate records from their respective applicants.
Similarly, a Parent Portal use-case requires a parent user to see their children’s records, but only their children and nobody else’s children’s records. An Employer Portal has similar requirements too, whereby an employer should only see their employees and the relevant records at an institution. By deploying Salesforce as an enterprise-wide CRM for higher education, colleges and universities have the option to deliver various portal environments on Experience Cloud.
