At Enrollment Rx, we often hear the following common complaint from schools:
Our current higher education admissions software cannot handle the complexity of our ever-evolving recruitment and admission requirements.
The ability for operational personnel to be able to make modifications to the higher education admissions software is pivotal to the success of the CRM deployment.
Recently, Enrollment Rx was finishing up an implementation project of our higher education admissions software for recruitment, admissions, and decisions (RAD) built on Salesforce, when we received a panicked call from the Director of Admissions. The School Board had just approved a new academic program that was not part of our initial implementation scope, with several unique application requirements that only prospective students for this program needed to complete. The new program would require applicants to complete additional sections and supplemental forms on the application, as well as submit and upload additional program-specific materials to be included in their files. Above all else, the application for the new program had to be live within one week. Our client earnestly wanted to understand the impact that these new requirements would have on the deployment of our higher education admissions software.
Our new client’s concern was understandable. This scenario would be a show-stopper for many schools, because most admissions teams are unable to make changes to their existing higher education admissions software without engaging in an arduous process of technical and/or vendor support. Historically, legacy higher education admissions software does not allow functional administrators to simply create new pages and fields in the applicant portal without IT support. They can’t add new requirements and logic to the applicant portal without involving significant technical expertise. Many admissions directors would need to wait months before such a request would even be complete.
For Enrollment Rx’s clients however, this is a very surmountable hurdle. We reminded our client that she and her team could easily add new pages, sections and fields to the application, with all the rules and logic necessary to determine “who sees what”. With our higher education admissions software, she could also create and modify the workflow and logic necessary to determine any other requirements items that need to be uploaded and submitted via the applicant portal. In the end, our client didn’t need seven days to make the necessary changes to add the new program to the CRM; she didn’t even need seven hours.
